These oak floating shelves are handmade from solid air-dried oak timber, and a perfect for creating a neutral and natural shelving scheme in your home. With 14 different lengths, two fine wax finish colours, as well as an unwaxed option, you create the oak floating shelf that’s perfect for you.

Suitable for solid walls. All fixings are provided with pre-drilled holes in the back. And full fitting instructions for easy installation.

Timber & Wax

Solid Oak Timber

These shelves and mantels are handcrafted from the very best quality solid oak timber. The timber is air-dried and will therefore continue to dry out as it settles into its new environment. You can expect some movement to occur during this time.

Each shelf is cut to size and finished in our workshop. This leaves in lots of natural, rustic timber characteristics and features. Mother Nature’s own stamp of approval.

In this timber you can expect to find splits, cracks, knots, shakes, waney edges, bows and twists along with sticker shadows and machine marks in keeping with the rustic style. These are the qualities that set our shelving apart from the rest. And due to the nature of solid wood every shelf will be different. Truly unique. One of a kind. Rustic timber.

You can expect to see some movement within the oak as it settles into its new environment. Please note that placing your item above or near a heat source can cause this movement to exaggerate the timber’s natural features further, particularly splits, cracks and twists.

But that’s not it. The main feature is the stunning wood grain running through the timber. And the growth rings are plain to see on the ends.

Fine Wax Finishes

To finish these chunky wood shelves, we use your choice of one of our supreme wax polishes.

Wax not only makes the timber look good, but it is also very durable. You can easily wipe away spillages. And cleaning is very simple. Just wipe with a clean cloth and warm water then leave to dry. But never use harsh chemical cleaners.

The finish is professionally applied with the highest attention to detail. And as the wax soaks into the different grains and features it enhances their look and brings them to life. The colours are:

When viewing on screen colours can look different from one screen to another. This makes it less reliable than seeing the real finished timber before your own eyes. Because you want the perfect colour for your home these finishes are available to purchase as small samples.

Assembly & Care

Future Maintenance with Wax Care Packs

We have wax care packs available to keep your shelves looking their best.

They’re also brilliant for fixing damage. A small amount of wax will fix a scratch. Order your wax care pack here.

 

Strong Fixings & Easy Installation

When you receive your oak floating shelves, the packaging will also include fixings. We provide you will fixings that have been designed specifically for the installation of our wooden shelves and mantels. We would recommend fixing it to solid wall types only. With the help of a professional joiner, or a skilled DIY enthusiast they can be fitted to timber frame walls as well. As this item is made from air-dried oak, it is not suitable for insetting into, or sealing onto the wall, doing so may cause the timber to move in an unnatural way. We are not able to guarantee the shelves if you do not use the fixings we supply, or if they are installed into alternative wall types or with alternative fitting methods.

Delivery & Returns

Turnaround & Delivery

These shelves will be made in our workshop within 3-5 working days. They will then be dispatched and will usually be delivered within 1-2 working days (2-3 days for European addresses) providing that there are no courier delays. It is important to open your delivery as soon as it is received so that this can be checked over, and so that the wood can breathe.

Orders with multiple items will be dispatched according to the longest lead time. To receive your quicker lead time items without having to wait, just place separate orders.
